Frequently Asked Questions of a Marriage Celebrant!
What can we expect from our Marriage Celebrant?
Marriage Celebrants are authorised by the Federal Government of Australia to perform marriages anywhere in Australia's land, sea or air space. As such I am obliged to follow the Code of Practice that is enshrined in the authorisation process I undertook to become your Marriage Celebrant. This Code of Practice lays down the absolute minimum that I must do; but of course I do much more than that to ensure your Marriage Ceremony is an occasion you will happily remember for years to come.
Can we change Celebrant midstream?
Of course if you feel that you want to change your Celebrant or if your Celebrant suddenly cannot be at your ceremony due to unforseen circumstances, you can transfer to another Celebrant. Your original Celebrant will help you with this process and will pass all information on to your new Celebrant. If you decide to change Celebrant there may well be a cancellation fee charged as the original Celebrant may have refused bookings for other ceremonies for that date and time.
What do your fees include?
My fees include all preparatory work such as completing the Notice of Intended Marriage form as well as ensuring compliance with all legal requirements for your marriage to be recognised. My fee also includes all work involved in designing your unique Marriage Ceremony as well as providing props such as the signing table, sand pouring vessels, candle sticks and wine glass. There are some props that I do charge for as an extra. please refer to the Fee Structure for more details.
How do we obtains an Official Marriage Certificate from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages?
I will lodge your marriage details with the Registry within 14 days of your Marriage Ceremony. Once your marriage has been registered you can apply for an official marriage certificate from the Registry. Ask me for the forms you will need.
