I need to sight the documents listed on the previous page prior to the Marriage Ceremony, preferrably at our first meeting. If any of the documents is unavailable for the first meeting I can sight them at any time before the Marriage Ceremony. HOWEVER I CANNOT CONDUCT THE MARRIAGE CEREMONY WITHOUT HAVING SIGHTED ALL THE DOCUMENTS LISTED. I will also photocopy all documents and retain the copies until the marriage has been registered with the Registry of Births, Marriages and Deaths. If any of the documents are not able to be produced then we will talk about the possibility of a Statutory Declaration to declare why you are not able to produce the relevant document. (You had to flee your birth country, records have been destroyed, or any other valid reason). Provision has been made in law to allow for these Statutory Declarations in certain circumstances. Please be aware that there are serious penalties for false Declarations.

If either of you is STILL MARRIED and is waiting for the Certificate of Divorce, please be aware that I am required to sight the original of this Certificate prior to the Marriage Ceremony. DO NOT WAIT for the Certificate to be posted. Collect it from the relevant authority and hand it to me as soon as possible to avoid any delays to the Marriage Ceremony.

If either of you has been married more than once I only need to sight evidence of how the last marriage ended.

If any of the documents are in a foreign language then I am required to sight the official translations into English. Currently in Australia the only persons who can do this are those registered with the National Accrediatation Authority for Translators.
